Mais um grande hype em torno deste rapaz, que adivinhem ....chega-nos da Austrália via U.S.A.
Sparro é filho de um dos mais prestigiados cantor de gospel australiano, Chris Faison, neto de um trompetista que chegou a tocar com Frank Sinatra e Sammy Davis Jr. e bisneto de um construtor de guitarras, cresceu em Sydney, seguiu o pai para os EUA e pelas suas digressões britânicas, teve a sua escola musical a cantar em igrejas. Mais tarde, e antes do sucesso de "Black and Gold", Sam fazia sucesso em séries de tv.
E reparem, ele diz o seguinte:

SHOUT OUT LOUDS

Os "Shout Out Louds", banda sueca, que curiosamente, nasceram com o nome de "Luca Brasi" em 2001. Mudaram de nome assim que descobriram que havia outra banda com o mesmo nome!
A banda viajou intensamente por todo o mundo para divulgar seu álbum de estreia Howl Howl Gaff Gaff. Eles viajaram com bandas, assegurando primeiras partes, como The Strokes, Kings of Leon, Secret Machines, The Dears, The Magic Numbers, The Rosebuds, The Sun e The Essex Green.
O segundo álbum, Our Ill Wills, foi gravado na Suécia em 2007.
O baixista, Ted Malmros ganhou um Grammi (a versão sueca do Grammy Awards) por dirigir Peter Bjorn and John no video Young Folks.
"The Comeback" foi utilizado na apresentação da Major League Baseball de 2006, com remistura de Ratatat.

Os Shout Out Louds, apresentam-se esta noite (22h00) ao vivo, na Aula Magna de Lisboa.
O concerto serve para a apresentação de ‘Our Ill Wills’, o novo disco da banda, onde se inclui o tema ‘Tonight I Have to Leave It’, usado na campanha da Optimus.

PORTISHEAD

Bristol, Inglaterra, é a terra natal do Trip-Hop, estilo musical marcado por sons distantes, sob uma batida hipnotizante e vocais melancólicos. Portishead é o nome de uma cidade da Costa Ocidental de Bristol, onde Geoff Barrow, o fundador da banda que leva o mesmo nome da cidade, cresceu. Geoff nunca gostou muito da vida exageradamente calma que levava em Portishead, e ainda muito jovem deixou a cidade para ir trabalhar num estúdio de gravação no coração de Bristol. Ele tinha apenas 17 anos, e nos intervalos dentro do estúdio gostava de experimentar misturas de samples nos gravadores, enquanto sonhava um dia ter a sua própria banda, com a qual faria uma música diferente de tudo o que passava por ali. Ele era muito esforçado, e levava seus momentos de DJ dentro do estúdio muito a sério.

Quando achou que estava bom naquilo que pretendia fazer, Geoff começou a procurar uma vocalista para sua "banda". Foi numa agência de empregos em Bristol que ele conheceu Beth Gibbons, a voz do Portishead. Ela já tinha trabalhado numa banda cover e fazia apresentações em pubs. Geoff e Beth deram-se muito bem, pois compartilhavam os mesmos gostos e ideais musicais. Não demoraram a compor a sua primeira música juntos, e pouco depois uniram-se ao guitarrista de jazz Adrian Utley.

O talento do trio era inegável, o que ajudou bastante na abertura de portas para apresentações e um pouco mais tarde para um contrato com a editora inglesa "Go! Discs", em 1993.

A partir da colaboração do engenheiro de som e percursionista Dave McDonald, em 1994 saía o primeiro disco do Portishead, o elogiadíssimo "Dummy". Puxado pelo single "Sour Times (Nobody Loves Me)", "Dummy" ganhou em 1995 o concorrido "Mercury Music Prize", o mais importante da música inglesa, destronando gente como Oasis, PJ Harvey e Tricky (o principal expoente do Trip-Hop até então), além de ter sido um grande sucesso radiofônico e comercial no mundo inteiro.

O Portishead tinha tudo para ser uma das melhores e mais produtivas bandas da década passada. Sem dúvidas foram uma das melhores, mas não das mais produtivas. O segundo trabalho, o auto-intitulado "Portishead", saiu em 1997, depois de a banda ter trabalhado nele dois anos. "Portishead", curiosamente, era visto como o único disco de 1997 com potencial para tomar o posto de melhor disco do ano (ou da década) de "OK Computer", do Radiohead. Embora seja um disco cheio de qualidades, ele não alcançou essa proeza. Mas conseguiu superar "Dummy". "Portishead" é um álbum de crescimento musical para a banda, que deu mais espaço aos vocais de Beth Gibbons e ousou experimentar nos processos de mixagem, alcançando óptimos resultados nas duas empreitadas. As composições também aparecem mais elaboradas e a banda mais auto-confiante.

O próximo disco lançado pelos Portishead foi o concerto no legendário "Roseland", em Nova Iorque. O disco, "PNYC - Portishead New York Concert", traz onze faixas básicas, os maiores sucessos da banda, em interpretações impecáveis. Embora perca muito do clima proposto pelo "trip-hop", aquela coisa etérea e distante, o CD tem compensações. A voz de Beth Gibbons,por exemplo, ao vivo é um prodígio, como se verifica nas faixas "Humming", "Mysterons", "Glory Box", entre outras.

Os sortudos que tiveram o prazer de os ver no Sudoeste de 1998 ficaram hipnotizados e muitos que conheceram então a banda ainda hoje continuam fãs. Brilharam curiosamente num dia em que havia PJ Harvey e Placebo no alinhamento!

Uma das características mais marcantes da música do Portishead é o chamado "Elemento surpresa". Nunca se sabe como é que a música deles vai evoluir. Quando menos se espera, eles mudam completamente o caminho natural que a composição estava a seguir, para algo melhor, realmente surpreendente. E ficamos ali, viajando, quase não-acreditando no que estamos a ouvir. E não é só Trip Hop, é algo mais... É o que diferencia uma grande banda de uma banda de tendências. Os Portishead surgiram do Trip-Hop, mas ficaram maiores do que ele.

O novo e aguardado trabalho chega a 14 de Abril, chama-se "Third", conta com 11 músicas no alinhamento, a primeira das quais tem vocais em português (!) do Brasil neste caso e fala segundo Geoff Barrow da ideia de partilha dos três músicos com as pessoas. O single de apresentação dá pelo nome de "Machine Gun"e já se encontra disponível, tem uma mensagem politizada algumas características mais electrónicas. Irá rodar com certeza em próximas edições de Terminal.

Entretanto há concertos agendados para os dias 26 e 27 de Março (amanhã e depois), nos Coliseus do Porto e Lisboa, respectivamente. Os bilhetes já esgotaram há muito!
O grupo regressa a palcos nacionais, depois da actuação no Festival Sudoeste de 199.

Este fantástico "Blind", um interessante tema disco, onde sobressai a fabulosa voz de Antony Hegarty dos Antony and The Johnsons.
É a minha música preferida neste momento! Uma das músicas de 2008, e ainda só estamos em Fevereiro!
O video de Blind, é baseado numa orgia romana, e termina com uma mensagem muito convidativa.

Samantha James, californiana que se afirma na cena electrónica internacional com o seu album de estreia e já aclamado "Rise" saído em Setembro de 2007, embora o single Rise já tivesse visto a luz do dia em 2006!
Algumas das faixas do álbum "Rise" já foram remisturadas por gente tão consagrada como Erik Kupper e Miguel Migs.
'Rise' é um encantado pedaço de house fundido com a sua voz Sade.
O single que dá nome ao álbum é um potente cocktail de sensualidade que mistura os ritmos de dança, bossa nova com ondas de emoção vocal. Um potente chill beat.
